Following graduation from Penn State, Izaiah enrolled at Iowa State and joined the Cyclones Basketball program. Coming off a 2-22 losing season, the Cyclones were unanimously voted, by the Big 12 coaches, to finish last in the conference. However, under Izaiah's leadership and play, the Cyclones finished the 2021-2022 season 22-13 (historic power conference 1-year turn-around) and advanced to the sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament (March Madness).
During the season, Izaiah accumulated 591 points (1,305 career points) while shooting 77.5% (FT), career-best 44.7% (Overall FG), and 36.2% (3PT). At his position, he quickly gained the respect and reputation for being one of the country's top-scoring/rebounding guards (1 of 2 Power 5 conference Guards to average at least 16.5 points, 6.5 rebounds, and at-least 30% from 3 - Iowa State's Izaiah Brockington and Wisconsin's Johnny Davis) and the most lethal mid-range shooter in the country (per Synergy Sports - Izaiah owned the top spot by over 50pts with over a 44% chance of a score per mid-range possession).
Izaiah earned many accolades and awards, including:
Following the completion of the 2021-2022 season, Izaiah declared for the NBA Draft and signed with Tandem Sports & Entertainment agency.
After sitting out the 2018 - 2019 season, Izaiah made an immediate impact on the Penn State Basketball team. As a RS Sophomore, Izaiah was a BIG10 6th man of the year candidate by playing in 31 games and averaging 8.1 points and 2.7 rebounds. Penn State, that season, became ranked as high as #9 in the country and was a consensus #4 seed in the NCAA Tournamant.
During this 2019 - 2020 run, Izaiah had many notable moments such as recording a season-high 23 points in a win against #23 ranked Iowa at the world famous Palestra in his hometown (Philadelphia, PA).
The 2020 - 2021 season was played during the COVID-19 global pandemic. As a RS Junior, Izaiah led his team in Free Throw percentage (84.1%) and was second in scoring and rebounds. Although the season was un-predictable (due to COVID pauses, etc), Izaiah had many exciting moments such as notching 24 points 8 rebounts in a win over #15 ranked Virgina Tech and being twice featured on SportsCenter Top 10 plays (#6 & #5).
He earned the nickname "Everyday Zay" by being in the gym, often, to work on his game.
Fresh out of High School, Izaiah earned his role, playing in 34 games and shooting 41.5% from 3, on the St. Bonaventure Basketball Team. The Bonnies made a magical run to the NCAA tournament that season and defeated the Pac-12 powerhouse, UCLA, in the first four play-in game in Dayton Ohio.
Izaiah showed great promise by scoring a season high (20 points) against TCU in the Emerald Coast Classic. This effort earned him All-Tournament honors.
After being recruited by several regional programs (for both academics and athletics), Izaiah decided to keep his talents local and play for Archbishop Ryan High School in his home area, Northeast Philadelphia. Although Archbishop Ryan, at the time, didn't have the reputation of consistently producing basketball talent, Izaiah quickly made a name for himself and established that he was one of the best players in the State of Pennsylvania.
Notable Achievements
As an ESPN 3 Star prospect (#8 in PA), Izaiah led his team to the final four of the PIAA 6A State tournament (highest classification). He also led his team to back to back trips to the Catholic League final four which is played in the legendary Palestra.
